STRATEGY GRADIENT
RESPECT THE GRADIENT
Implement 3 STRATEGIES OVER TIME
To manage your own cognitive load when trying to implement visible learning AND to manage learner risk, start with purpose not power (the WHY), then integrate the Teacher Script (the what, how, and how well), and when ready, flip the script and ask learners to provide the why, what, how, and how well.
CONCEPT
ANATOMY OF TRUST
Educators diminish barriers and accelerate trust development by habitually using Visible Language to frame the learning experience. Examples of activities that benefit from framing include: learning activities, content, directions, establishing classroom norms, and managing classroom behaviors.
STRATEGY COLLECTION
VISIBLE LEARNING STRATEGIES FOR STUDENTS
Visible Learning strategies help learners with the PROCESS of learning. THe Mockingbird Methodology includes a collection of strategies that can be integrated into lessons to help learners with specific learning skills such as reading comprehension, summarizing, critical thinking, problem-solving, etc. Many of these strategies use acrostics and acronyms to help learners both learn and remember these strategies.

The following guide contains an overview of directions for each of the strategies. These strategie are embedded in all Mockingbird curriculums and are taught in select Mockingbird workshops.
