Mockingbird Education uses the IMPROVEMENT FORMULA to help educators develop new instructional habits. The formula is based upon the 8 ELEMENTS OF EFFECTIVE CHANGE INITIATIVES.

1. VISION
2. ACTION PLAN
3. RESOURCES
4. IMPROVEMENT SPRINTS
5. COACHING
6. MOTIVATORS
7. PROGRESS
8. ANCHOR IN CULTURE

IMPROVEMENT SPRINT

Improvement Sprints are short stretches of intense improvement work. These stretches are easily integrated into daily teaching tasks.

THE PROCESS CONTAINS 3 STAGES

PREPARE
PRACTICE
REVIEW

Improvement Sprints focus on TINY SHIFTS and short sharp bursts of PRACTICE IMPROVEMENT.

The three phases enable teachers to practice and review a small slice of their teaching over a short period of time. Without improvement sprints, you get stagnation and flavor-of-the-month attitude about professional development.
