Ready to Learn is designed for a target audience of 16-adult with an Educational Functioning Level of Low Intermediate (4.5-5.9)   

The curriculum however has been successfully implemented with higher and lower level students.

Mental Wellness and Healthy Decision-Making

I AM READY

I Am Ready is designed for a target audience of 16- adult.  The curriculum however has been successfully implemented with middle school students.  

I am Ready is 8 thematic units. 

Unit 1:  Self-Control

Unit 2:  Mindfulness and Stress

Unit 3:  Habits and Thoughts

Unit 4:  Beliefs and Attitudes

Unit 5:  Thinking Errors

Unit 6:  Coping

Unit 7:  Anger Management

Unit 8: Goal Setting

Each thematic unit contains 4 lessons that are 2.0-2.5 hours in length. 

The units and lessons are designed to be delivered in sequence as collectively, the lessons create a cohesive learning experience. However, lessons can be delivered out of sequence with planning and preparation.

The role of the educator in a humanistic curriculum is to be a guide and mentor.  Teachers are not the source of knowledge but a facilitator of knowing acquisition.  This role is important to the design and delivery of the curriculum.

The goal of curriculum is to help students…

  • Slow down their thinking processes and evaluate the thoughts, feelings, and behaviors that they experience in situations.
  • Understand System 1 thinking patterns and teaches learners tools and strategies to manage system 1 responses.
  • Learn new thinking patterns to replace the faulty patterns that often result in destructive and negative responses and behaviors.

Lessons focus on active learning, meaning-making and providing a workforce-based learning experience.

Curriculum was piloted and researched with Gang Prevention and Corrections Programs in Central America in 2018.  Research participants reported increases in self-esteem, self-efficacy, and self-control.

RISE Curriculum

RISE is a life skills curriculum for adult learners and consists of a series of lessons designed to assist learners in creating plans for their personal development and expanding their learning experiences. It works by empowering leaners with the tools to self-advocate and plan for their own success, creating a framework of thinking that can be reapplied time and time again. 

  • RISE is 6 thematic units. 

    Unit 1: Resilience

    Unit 2: Courage

    Unit 3: Self-Advocacy

    Unit 4: Flexibility

    Unit 5: Empathy

    Unit 6: Integrity

Each thematic unit contains 5 lessons that are 1-1.5 hours in length. 

The units and lessons are designed to be delivered in sequence as collectively, the lessons create a cohesive learning experience. However, lessons can be delivered out of sequence with planning and preparation.

  • Develop healthy self concepts inside and outside the classroom. This includes understanding concepts such as resiliency, self-affirmation, and self-care. 
  • Face new and daunting situations and RISE provides tools for understanding courage, trust, and fear while developing ways to manage stress and self-regulation. 
  • Develop new ways to think critically about problems. This includes nurturing “flexible” thinking and encouraging self-advocacy. 
  • Grow their sense of empathy and integrity by exploring new scenarios and situations that encourage self-exploration and introspection.

GEAR UP Curriculum

Gear Up is a pre-apprenticeship manufacturing curriculum for adult learners. The curriculum contextualizes foundational mathematics in workforce development preparation.

  • Through the course of the curriculum, the student explores  different manufacturing jobs, 8 foundational mathematical skills needed for manufacturing employment, and 8 workforce success values.
  • The workforce development preparation focuses on manufacturing workforce scenarios. In each lesson, students solve real-world mathematics challenges in the context of  how manufacturing technicians use these skills in their daily career responsibilities.

Coaching Curriculum

The Methodology Coach Curriculum is designed for staff developers that coach staff in the Methodology Practitioner Curriculum.  The curriculum is also appropriate for staff that want to learn a collaborative coaching approach for coaching practitioners in behavior-based strategies.

The Coaching Curriculum (Level One) is 16 units

 8 units are dedicated to the knowledge and skills for understanding and using the collaborative coaching process.  These units include:

Coaches provide support and mentoring through collaborative coaching conversations and feedback through classroom observations.  Coaches are knowledgeable in  the Practitioner curriculum strategies and experts in the collaborative coaching process for behavioral change.

Our coaching approach helps coaches develop the talent and skills for coaching staff in the Mockingbird Practitioner curriculum and in adopting general behavioral-based teaching, coaching, and mentoring strategies.

In this curriculum, workshop facilitators are mentors, coaches, and teachers.  The facilitator teaches the research and rationale behind strategies and then models and teaches the strategies in the practitioner curriculum.  The facilitators are experts in the strategies in the practitioner curriculum and models of what the behavior-based strategies look like in implementation.
